Welcome to Republic, Michigan!
CURRENT SLIDE SHOW PICTURES COURTESY OF ROGER OJA.
We are quietly world famous for having the Northwoods’ best four seasons activities in the UP. Watching wildlife, observing Fall colors, snowmobiling, fishing for trout, walleye, and bass. We also have hunting for white tail deer or black bear, ORVing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, hiking, cycling, white water kayaking as well as quiet kayaking, canoeing, camping at state and township campgrounds, are just a sampling of the great outdoor activities available.
Republic is experiencing a rebirth after the Republic specular hematite mine closed in 1981. New mineral deposits have been found nearby by the mining companies and the Eagle Mine is the first of many expected developments. To further the production, the processing mill in the old Humboldt Mine location just North of Republic is almost completed. We expect jobs to be available, and housing in our community to be needed.
Now is the time to make a commitment to yourself and your family to be on the ground floor in the upcoming renaissance of the community.

New Campground To Be Built!
Township Treasurer Tina Koski, and Recreation Committee Chairperson Hillary Venn, accept the check from the Eagles/Cliff’s Foundation, for the new campground to be built between School Lake and the Michigamme River.
This is a tremendous help in our efforts to rebuild the community. We believe we’ve turned the corner, and the future of our community is looking much brighter.
The entrance to North Republic has looked like a lunarscape for years. This will completely change the first impression of our community and create an end destination for visitors.
We are extremely grateful to the Cliffs/Eagle Foundation for having faith in our abilities, and giving us the support we needed.
